Have you ever hunted for ghosts or wondered if you may have one in your home? Here we are going to go over some of the things you should look for and some of the possible explanations for what you may be experiencing. These tips can be used for your own home or somewhere you are investigating. Weird smells - One of the more popular smells is a floral scent. If you are smelling something strange check your surroundings for anything at all that could be causing it. Household cleaners, room sprays, perfume, cooking smells, laundry soaps and even smells from outside could be the cause. Check all these things carefully first to rule them out. Outside smells can be from plants, factories or businesses like coffe houses, and homes nearby. This is one of the reasons you should not wear perfume or cologne when investigating.. Odd sounds - Most houses have some kind of creak or groan at times. This is normal due to settling of the building. The wind can come through the small cracks in a building causing some weird sounds. Some of the things to check for are radios, appliances , water heaters and pipes, furnaces, TV's, sounds from outside or from your neighbors, and other people. Sounds can carry a great distance and I know where I live I can hear people on the next street over at times. Especially in the winter when it's clear, sounds can really travel. Just be sure to rule out those types of things best you can. Odd shadows - My house has them. The street light outside can cause some freaky looking ones.. cars that go up the road pull them across the wall. When the wind blows the trees it can get weird looking too. When it's dark things just don't look the same. Things you recognize in daylight can become a shadow person in the dark. We have blinds on our front window and one of the slats had a small piece to break off. I didn't think about it and one night I saw a weird light on the wall. When I started checking, I found it was coming from where that piece of blind was missing. It was letting the light from the street light come on just enough to make a small place on that wall and it looks green. Try turning out the lights and walk through your house to see where the shadows are from normal things. Outside ones are a little harder to nail down. Things change, people move stuff, trees and bushes grow over time, new things appear in places. If you are going somewhere you have been before make a note of what is where. Better yet, make a simple map of the area. You'll be able to see what has been added or removed. You can also make maps for inside before you start an investigation so you'll know where things are. Objects moved - This usually has a simple explanation. Most times the item had been moved by a family member or employees if you are in a business. Ask around before you decide a ghost has moved something. Now if you see it move on it's own... The main thing to remember is check everything! Try to rule out as many things as you can so you have a better idea of what could be going on. |
